An Adventurous Comite Expedition
We had been trying to do a Comite expedition for a while, but scheduling and water levels scrubbed the plans repeatedly. Finally, everything aligned (except the forecast), so we figured we’d go on an adventure to see what issues there were and to handle as many as we could. Read more…
Cleanup Videos and Upcoming Fun Paddle
We deployed three sections of our portable dock at Bayou Fountain for a paddle cleanup last weekend. About 30 LSU volunteers came and helped clean a section of the bayou in advance of this weekend’s fun paddle. Read more…
Welcome Earth (Day) People!
Today we’re at Louisiana Earth Day downtown on North Boulevard, and we just wanted to post a quick note saying hello to all the people who pull up the site today.
We’ve got some great things coming up. We have a fun paddle down Bayou Fountain and Manchac on the calendar for next Saturday (about a “three hour” trip, more or less, and as usual, we do have some canoes or kayaks available for advance reservation for paddlers without their own boat). The following weekend, water permitting, we’ll be heading out to the Comite for an adventure expedition where we’ll be checking out conditions and working on fallen trees with our excellent hand saws. And we have a moonlight paddle coming up around May’s full moon.
We hope to see you out there.

High Water On Bayou Fountain
After a winter including many interesting excursions (the results of which will be trickling out through the season), we have our web volunteer back from hibernation just in time for paddling season! We think they may have run aground somewhere and gotten stuck, but it seems we’ve finally had enough water to refloat them, would you believe? Read more…
Bayou Fountain — November 14, 2015
After taking a weekend off to get in some hiking, see a Blue Angels airshow, and let the bayou settle down a bit, it was time to get back out there for another fun expedition. The bayou did not disappoint. Read more…
The water was still very high on Bayou Fountain, but we weren’t going to let a perfectly good Saturday go unused. It turned into a long day with the easiest ending ever. Read more…

BREC’s Pets ‘N Paddling 2015
Saturday morning, before the great deluge, we headed out to the park to help with our second BREC Outdoor Adventure event in as many weekends. BREC’s Paddling In Pink may have been brighter, but Pets ‘N Paddling certainly won paws down in average legs per vessel. Read more…
