Moonlight Paddle to Spanish Lake

2016-05-06

Spanish Lake by moonlight

It’s time for another night paddle, and this time we’re heading back to Spanish Lake by moonlight.  This is one of our favorite paddle trips, but as it requires launching from private land, it is only available to us by special permission.  Don’t miss your chance to experience Spanish Lake by moonlight.

Who: Anyone interested in paddling Louisiana at night.
What: About 5-1/2 miles round trip on Bayou Braud and Spanish Lake.
When:  Saturday, May 14, 2016, arriving at 6:45pm.
Where: Highway 74 at Shell Oil Field Rd., St. Gabriel, LA 70776
Why: Because how often does this opportunity come around?

Interested paddlers can meet us at the launch point with their canoes or kayaks.  We also have several canoes and kayaks available for those who do not have their own but would like to come along.  We do not charge to attend or to use our boats, but donations to help support PaddleBR are always welcome and appreciated.

Note that once you leave the paved highway at the hanging PaddleBR sign and turn onto Shell Oil Field Road, conditions steadily deteriorate as you drive toward the launch point.  If you do not relish an “adventure drive” to the launch point (although I enjoy it in my little adventurous Kia), we can certainly arrange a last-mile shuttle.  Cell service at the launch point may be spotty, so prior arrangements and timely arrival are helpful.

To sign up, reserve a spot, or get more details, email us or call 225-366-8254.  It’s going to be a great trip.
